Research projects in the Dept. of Nanobiotechnology

The DST funded project in collaboration with ILS, Bhubaneshwar and Deakin University, Australia entitled “Developing Molecularly Targeted Polymer nanoparticles for cancer diagnostics and therapeutics”.

A DST international collaboration with Deakin University, Australia on aptamer-based drug delivery has also been approved. These projects are based on targeted drug delivery by using tools common in nanotechnology to treat retinoblastoma.

The 3 year DBT funded project entitled “Targeted Gold Nanoparticle Conjugates for RNAi Delivery” uses gold nanoparticle as a vehicle to carry RNAi for the targeted therapy of retinoblastoma at molecular level.

The DBT funded project entitled “Effect of antioxidant peptides in modulating the Reactive oxygen Species in retinoblastoma cell line through nanoparticles” (3years) is sanctioned. This project brings out the possibility of using short antioxidant peptides as a supplement to the existing therapeutic modalities in treating retinoblastoma.

DBT funded “RNA conjugation chemistry –and its application in tumor biology” for 3 years from 2012

DRDO funded “Fabrication of polymer MEMS based sensors for ocular disease” for 2 years from 2012
