About Founder
Dr. Badrinath, the founder and Chairman Emeritus of Sankara Nethralaya, dedicated his life to bringing affordable and accessible eye care to those in need. He revolutionized the landscape of ophthalmology in India, transforming Sankara Nethralaya into one of the world's largest charitable eye hospitals.His incredible work and unwavering commitment were recognized through numerous awards and accolades. The prestigious Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India, was bestowed upon him in 1999, honoring his exceptional service to the field of medicine. He had previously received the Padma Shri in 1983, acknowledging his early contributions to improving eye health.
However, Dr. Badrinath's true legacy lies in the countless lives he touched. He brought sight to the world for millions, restoring hope and dignity to the most vulnerable sections of society.
