1. To become a competent Ophthalmologist capable of medical management of ophthalmic disorders through training in
Refraction - including ability to do keratometry, lensometry and biometry
Diagnosis and Medical management of glaucoma
Correction of refractive errors, administering amblyopia therapy and learning when to refer a strabismus patient to a Paediatric Ophthalmologist
Diagnosis and follow up of diabetic retinopathy, AMD and other retinal disorders, and referral for laser when necessary. Ability to pick up retinal breaks and conditions needing specialized retinal care
First line management of uveitis, ordering and interpretation of tests, and competency in indications for referral
Understanding the basics in diagnosis and management of disorders of eyelids, adnexa and orbit.
Complete evaluation of neuro-ophthalmic conditions and to recognise when to refer.
Management of ophthalmic emergencies
Competence at reading visual fields, OCT and other ocular diagnostic tools.
Managing peripheral centers independently
2. Good working knowledge of Internal Medicine and patient care
3. Surgical skill to become an independent cataract surgeon with exposure to
