Dr. Md. Shahid Alam did his Masters in Ophthalmology from the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University, Institute of ophthalmology in 2009. He did his two years fellowship in oculoplasty and orbit from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. Thereafter he joined Sankara Nethralaya as an associate consultant in the department of orbit oculoplasty reconstructive and aesthetic services, and worked there for 3 years. He was awarded with Fellow All India Collegium of Ophthalmology (FAICO) in oculoplasty subspecialty, by All India Ophthalmic Society in 2016. He served as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Ophthalmology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh for 1 year. Presently he is working as a Consultant in the Department of , Orbit Oculoplasty Reconstructive & Aesthetic Services, at the Kolkata branch of Sankara Nethralaya and heading the department. He is also the Head of academics of Sankara Nethralaya, Kolkata. He is an avid researcher and has published over 130 research articles in peer reviewed journals and has also authored few book chapters. He has presented numerous papers and delivered talks as guest speaker in various conferences.
