Dr Suchetana Mukherjee did her  Masters in Ophthalmology from Nagri Eye Hospital attached to Smt NHL Municipal Medical College, Gujarat University, in the year 2001, bagging the gold medal in her batch.

Thereafter she underwent cataract surgery training from LV Prasad Eye Institute in early 2002 followed by a phaco fellowship from Sankara Nethralaya the same year. 

Thereafter she joined Sankara Nethralaya Kolkata as an associate consultant in 2005. She underwent further training in Medical Retina between 2009-2010. 

She is currently working as a senior consultant at Sankara Nethralaya Kolkata. Her areas of interest are cataracts ( age related as well as cataract in the young and complicated cataracts). She also takes keen interest in retinal pathologies like age related macular degeneration,  CNVM, diabetic retinopathy with macular edema and retinal vascular occlusions.

She is also currently the Deputy Medical Director of Kamalnayan Bajaj Sankara Nethralaya, Rajarhat. 

She has also presented papers and posters in both national and international conferences and been a guest speaker and panelist at various academic forums.

Areas of Expertise/ Interest

• Phacoemusification ( cataract surgery) and treatment of retinal pathologies with Laser and Anti Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (Anti VEGF) injections.
