The Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya conducts Hands-on Summer Training Programme in biomedical laboratory sciences for M.Sc. postgraduate students of Science every academic year. This Programme consists of Practical demonstration, relevant lectures and “Hands on” training to the participants.

Topics covered IN the training course

Electrospinning Technique:

• Basics of Electrospinning: Grasp the principles of technique and its use in generating nanofibers.
• Practical experience: Utilize electrospinning equipment to fabricate nanofiber samples.

Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)

• Introduction to SEM: Learn how SEM operates and its importance in Nanobiotechnology.
• Sample Preparation Techniques: Master the proper methods for preparing samples for SEM examination.
• Imaging and Analytical Skills: Develop proficiency in obtaining high-resolution images and interpreting SEM data.

Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)

• Hands On Operational Training: Gain practical experience with FTIR equipment to analyze nanomaterials.
• Spectral Data Interpretation: Learn to interpret FTIR spectra for material identification and analysis.

Eligibility:Students undergoing a) M.Sc. Biochemistry / Microbiology / Biotechnology / Life Science / Genetics in Arts and Science colleges / Medical colleges / Academic Institutions preferably in the final year of the Programme and b) research Scientists / Junior Faculty in all Basic Medical Sciences Departments are eligible to apply.

The applications should be forwarded through proper channel by HOD / Head of the Institution. Applications will be accepted on first-come first-serve basis.

The last date for accepting applications through proper channel in the prescribed format is 31st May 2024.

The selected students will be informed through e-mail and they may then pay the fees for Rs. 15,000/- in the form of a DD in favour of Medical Research Foundation, payable at Chennai to VIBS, Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, 41, College Road, Chennai – 600 006. The DD can be handed over personally or through post, and the receipt will be given for the same.

A certificate for having undergone the course will be issued to the students along with the evaluation results, at the end of the Programme.
