The Indian Eye Research Group (IERG) is the biggest association of Eye researchers in India who meet every year in the last week of July. It is operated through a council that includes Heads of all the major institutes involved in ocular research. It provides an opportunity for scientific interactions amongst the researchers, scientists and clinicians who share their active research covering various aspects of Basic science such as Molecular biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Stem cell, Regenerative medicine, Cancer biology, Lens biology, Pharmacology, Bioinformatics, drug delivery and Nanotechnology addressing the challenges in various eye pathologies, Innovations, Optometry and Vision science and the Clinical sciences, creating a perfect platform for translational research and net working for collaborations.
Three oration lectures named after, Dorairajan Balasubramanian, Late Bireswar Chakrabarti and now Dr.Sengamedu Srinivasa Badrinath award (since 2018) is given for eminent scientists in the field of eye research. There are Key note addresses, Invited talks, free paper sessions and a heavy Poster session conducted for 2 days in addition to a pre-conference workshops/symposiums. More than 15 travel fellowships are given to young research students. Prizes for the best papers and posters in each session are given.
