Kamalnayan Bajaj Sankara Nethralaya

Sankara Nethralaya, part of the Medical Research Foundation and registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act of 1860, is a not-for-profit institution committed to delivering exceptional ophthalmic care. Founded in 1978 by the visionary ophthalmologist Dr. Sengamedu Srinivasa Badrinath, it was inspired by the desire of Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Kanchi Mutt to offer affordable, high-quality eye care to underserved communities. Over the years, Sankara Nethralaya has established itself as a trusted leader in eye care, providing outstanding services throughout India

To provide services to eastern and northeastern India, Sankara Nethralaya opened its Kolkata facility in December 2002. The hospital quickly gained the trust and support of the West Bengal community, leading to its expansion. In July 2007, it temporarily relocated to Raja Subodh Mullick Square, and with robust local backing, a permanent hospital was established in Mukundapur in 2009. This was followed by the inauguration of Kamalnayan Bajaj Sankara Nethralaya on January 5, 2017, which spans 4.19 acres in Rajarahat and was officially opened by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shrimati Mamata Banerjee.

The Rajarhat hospital, a super-specialty center, caters to not only West Bengal but also patients from Bangladesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. Led by Medical Director Dr. Sujata Guha and supported by Deputy Director Dr. Suchetana Mukherjee along with a committed team of 12 consultants, the hospital provides care to 350-400 patients daily across various ophthalmology sub-specialties

At Kamalnayan Bajaj Sankara Nethralaya, we are dedicated to providing world-class eye care and ensuring the best possible vision for our patients. Offering comprehensive services that cater to the diverse needs of our community while promoting awareness about eye health.
