Welcome to Sankara Nethralaya's MESU (Mobile Eye Surgical Unit) – a groundbreaking initiative bringing quality eye care to the doorsteps of rural communities. MESU, a collaborative effort between Sankara Nethralaya and IIT Madras, was launched in 2011, initially serving Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, and later expanding to Jharkhand. In February 2024, we further extended this service by introducing a new unit in Telangana.
MESU camp in Velgonda, Bijanapally, Nagarkurnool, Telangana - December 2024
The MESU Adopt-A-Village eye camp organized by Sankara Nethralaya USA took place from December 8 to December 18, 2024, at ZPHS School in Velgonda, Bijanapally, Nagarkurnool, Telangana. Sponsored by Bindu Vemireddy and Murli Reddy, President of Charter Global, this camp marked the 14th MESU eye camp in Hyderabad. With the aim of bringing quality eye care to underserved rural communities, the camp screened 675 patients and successfully performed 74 cataract surgeries, restoring vision and transforming lives.
MESU camp in Kagulapadu, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh - December 2024
Sankara Nethralaya USA, through its MESU Adopt-A-Village initiative, successfully conducted 131th camp with its Chennai unit in Kagulapadu, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, from December 3 to December 12, 2024. Mobile Eye Surgical Unit (MESU) camp, sponsored by Sobha Reddy and Prasada Reddy, esteemed members of the Board of Advisors, SNUSA, provided much-needed eye care services to the rural community. A total of 784 patients were screened during the camp, and 101 cataract surgeries were performed, restoring vision and transforming lives.
MESU camp in Jayankondam, Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu - November 2024
Sankara Nethralaya USA organized the MESU Adopt-a-Village eye camp in Jayankondam, Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, from November 19 to November 29, 2024. Sponsored by Banu Ramkrishnan and KG Venkatraman, this initiative marked Chennai MESU's 130th camp. During the camp, 680 patients were screened, and 130 cataract surgeries were successfully performed, providing much-needed vision care to the rural community.
MESU camp in Rural Telangana - November 2024
Sankara Nethralaya USA successfully organized the MESU Adopt-A-Village eye camp in rural Telangana from November 18 to November 28, 2024. Sponsored by Raghavendra Reddy Sunkireddy, President of AIS Inc., this was his second MESU eye camp sponsorship. The camp, held at Sri Lakshmi Function Hall in Amangal, Mahabubnagar, marked the 13th Hyderabad MESU eye camp. A total of 1,908 patients were screened, and 150 cataract surgeries were performed, bringing the gift of sight to those in need.
MESU camp in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh - November 2024
The MESU Adopt-a-Village eye camp, organized by Sankara Nethralaya USA, took place in Sangam Jagarlamudi, Tenali, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, from November 2 to November 12, 2024. This Chennai MESU Camp #129 was sponsored by Srinivasa Emani, RamaLakshmi, and Harshavardhan Reddy in memory of the late Sri Emani Singireddy Anjayya Garu and Sri Emani Rangareddy Garu. Held at the Panchayat Office, the camp screened a total of 533 patients and performed 86 cataract surgeries.
MESU Camp in NagarKurnool, Telangana - November 2024
Sankara Nethralaya USA conducted a MESU Adopt-A-Village eye camp in rural Telangana from November 1 to November 11, 2024, sponsored by A. Jalandhar Reddy, Managing Director of Anusha Projects Pvt Ltd. This marked the second MESU eye camp sponsored by Mr. Reddy and the twelfth Hyderabad MESU camp. Held at the M.L.A. Camp Office (Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Praja Bhavan) in Achampet, NagarKurnool, Telangana, the camp successfully screened 892 patients, resulting in 137 cataract surgeries, significantly impacting eye health in the local community.

The MESU Adopt-a-Village eye camp, organized by Sankara Nethralaya USA, was held from October 15 to October 25, 2024, at ZPHS High School in Nandi Vaddeman Village, Bijinapally Mandal, Nagar Kurnool District, Telangana. Generously sponsored by Ramchandra Reddy and Dr. Niranjani, this Hyderabad MESU eye camp (11th camp) provided much-needed eye care services to the rural community. A total of 438 patients were screened for various eye conditions, with 37 cataract surgeries performed to restore sight to those in need.
MESU Camp in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh - October 2024
The MESU Adopt-a-Village eye camp, organized by Sankara Nethralaya USA, took place from October 13 to October 23, 2024, opposite the Sri Lakshminarayana Swamy Temple in Mangalagiri, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Sponsored by Ram Kotti (APTA) in memory of the late Sri Raghavarapu Vasundhara garu, this Chennai MESU camp (128th camp) provided crucial eye care to the local community. Over the course of the camp, 788 patients were screened for eye ailments, and 92 cataract surgeries were performed to help restore sight.

The MESU Adopt-a-Village eye camp, conducted by Sankara Nethralaya USA, was held from September 26 to October 5, 2024, in Bokkamanthula Pahad, Nidamanur Mandal, Nalgonda District, Telangana. Sponsored by Sabitha Pamulapati, Laxmi Parimala Natendla, and friends in memory of Prabhakar Reddy Putta, this Hyderabad MESU camp (#10) provided essential eye care to the rural community. A total of 630 patients were screened, with 141 cataract surgeries successfully performed to restore vision for those affected.

The MESU Adopt-a-Village eye camp, organized by Sankara Nethralaya USA, took place from September 19 to September 29, 2024, at Kakathiya College, R. S. Road, in Rajampeta, Annamayya District, Andhra Pradesh. Sponsored by Dheeraj Reddy Pola in honor of the late Sri Pola Venkata Reddy's centennial celebrations, this Chennai MESU camp (127th camp) brought vital eye care services to the local community. A total of 775 patients were screened, with 130 cataract surgeries performed to restore vision.

The MESU Adopt-a-Village eye camp, organized by Sankara Nethralaya USA, was held from September 9 to September 18, 2024, at Sita Rama Kapu Kalyana Mandapam in Chinna Korumilli, Kapaleshwaram, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. Sponsored by Meher Lanka and Vijaya Lanka in memory of Smt Bulusu Kanaka Durgamma garu and Sri Bulusu Venkata Satya Subramanya Sarma garu, this Hyderabad MESU camp (9th camp) provided essential eye care services to the rural community. During the camp, 652 patients were screened for various eye conditions, and 83 cataract surgeries were performed to restore vision.

Sankara Nethralaya USA organized a Mobile Eye Surgical Unit (MESU) camp in Pulivendula, Kadapa District, from August 27 to September 6. The camp was sponsored by Thirumala Reddy Kumbum from Dallas, TX, USA. During the camp, 740 patients were screened, and 130 cataract surgeries were performed.

SN USA conducted a camp from August 10 to August 19, 2024, sponsored by Jyothi Chintalapudi (Natya Jyothi Dance Academy), Smt. Satyavati Lolabhattu, and Dr. Raghunandan Lolabhattu in memory of L.S. Raju, Ex-MLC. During the camp, 595 patients were screened, and 75 cataract surgeries were performed.

SN USA conducted a MESU camp in Kalivelapalem, Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, from August 8 to August 18, 2024. The camp was sponsored by Sri Katamreddy Prasada Reddy and Smt. Sobha Reddy Katamreddy in memory of the late Sri Katam Reddy Katcha Reddy and the late Sri Katamreddy Subbarami Reddy. During the camp, 515 patients were screened, and 74 cataract surgeries were performed.

SN USA conducted a camp in Veldanda Village, Telangana, from July 18 to July 30, 2024, sponsored by Sunkireddy Raghavender Reddy, Chairman of IKYATA Foundation. During the camp, 1,755 patients were screened, and 122 cataract surgeries were performed.

SN USA conducted a camp from July 20 to July 30, 2024, sponsored by Shankar Krishnan of the ARSR Foundation. This marks his second camp donation. During the camp, 655 patients were screened, and 145 cataract surgeries were performed.

SN USA conducted a camp from June 29 to July 4, 2024, sponsored by Dr. Prasad Garimella and Dr. Mahuri Namuduri in memory of Smt. Garimella Annapurnamma and Sri Garimella Shiva Madhav Sharma. During the camp, 874 patients were screened, and 115 cataract surgeries were performed.

SN USA conducted a camp from June 27 to July 7, 2024, sponsored by Neelima Gaddamanugu, Trustee of SN USA, Atlanta, GA, and Siva Gaddamanugu. The camp was held in memory of the late Shri SE Rama Murthy’s Centennial celebrations. During the camp, 906 patients were screened, and 133 cataract surgeries were performed.

SN USA conducted a MESU camp in Orikkai, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, from April 23 to May 2, 2024. The camp was sponsored by Dr. Prasad Jeereddi, MD, Pamelo Chairman, CA, USA. During the camp, 559 patients were screened, and 127 cataract surgeries were performed.
MESU Camp in Macharam, Nagarkarnool District, Telangana - March 2024
SN USA successfully orchestrated an eye camp in Telangana, made possible through the generous sponsorship of A Jalandhar Reddy, Managing Director of Anusha Projects Pvt Ltd. This impactful initiative took place in Macharam, Nagarkarnool District, Telangana, serving as a hope for the local community. Spanning from March 9 to March 17, 2024, the camp catered to the eye health needs of the region. A total of 1163 patients underwent screenings during this period, with 182 individuals benefitting from cataract surgeries. The event garnered attention and participation from esteemed guests, including Smt. Seethalla (Dansari Anasuya) Garu, Cabinet Minister of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Women and Child Welfare, Government of Telangana, and Dr. Chikkudu Vamshi Krishna Garu, MLA of Achampet Constituency and President of Nagar Kurnool District Congress Committee.
MESU Camp in Pulavanur, Tamil Nadu - March 2024
Sankara Nethralaya USA orchestrated and raised funds for an eye camp held in Pulavanur, Tamil Nadu. This initiative took place aboard our Mobile Eye Surgical Unit and was graciously sponsored in memory of Dr. CS Rangarathnam. Spearheaded by Professor TES Raghavan of the University of Illinois, Chicago, USA, and his family, the camp aimed to address prevalent eye health issues in the community. Throughout the camp's duration (March 5, 2024 to March 14, 2024), a total of 711 patients underwent comprehensive screenings, while 92 individuals received free cataract surgeries, marking a significant stride in enhancing accessibility to essential eye care services.
MESU Camp in Kalpakkam, Tamilnadu - February 2024
The Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS) extended its support by sponsoring an eye camp as part of Sankara Nethralaya's MESU-adopt a village sponsorship program. Collaborating with Sankara Nethralaya's MESU unit, patients were screened and cataract surgeries were performed. During the camp which happened from February 20, 2024 to March 1, 2024, a total of 2995 patients underwent screenings, with 210 patients receiving essential cataract surgeries.
MESU Camp in Yousufguda, Hyderabad, Telangana - February 2024
Sankara Nethralaya launched its inaugural Mobile Eye Surgical Unit in Telangana, marking a significant step forward in expanding its reach. SN USA diligently coordinated the first comprehensive eye camp was organized at Telangana in Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium, Yousufguda Hyderabad, from February 19 to February 29, 2024. The camp received generous sponsorship from Srinivas Ganagoni of New Jersey, USA, through the MESU Adopt a Village sponsorship program. Over the course of the camp, a total of 1570 patients underwent screenings, with 191 individuals benefiting from cataract surgeries.

SN USA successfully raised funds for a transformative camp on the Mobile Eye Surgical Unit (MESU), providing essential eye surgeries and care in Thondavada, Chandragiri, Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh. The camp, spanning nine days from January 25 to February 3, 2024, was sponsored by Dr. Mohan Mallam MD, California, USA, as part of Sankara Nethralaya's MESU - adopt a Village sponsorship program. During this camp, as many as 721 patients were screened, while 97 patients had their cataract surgeries performed free of cost.
